In 1980, Ron watched his frostbitten partner get airlifted off a glacier on Denali. Halfway to the summit, their trip ended with the failure of a simple pair of gaiters. Knowing he could fix this problem, he quit his old job to pursue the solution, Outdoor Research was born and to this day, OR has created a legacy in the outdoor sports industry.
